Afridi & Angell is the Middle East’s market leader for providing legal advice in the ever-evolving venture capital industry. We have a significant footprint in the Middle East, North Africa, and South Asia region.
We advise on the full life cycle of investments for a broad range of clients, which include emerging companies, incubators, arrangers, venture capital funds, banks, and high net-worth individuals and families. In particular, our lawyers represent investors in respect of fund formation and marketing and have significant experience identifying and negotiating early, middle, and late stage investments, debt and equity financings, initial public offerings, and trade sale exits.
We assist start-up businesses with matters critical to their success and growth. This includes advising on company formation, intellectual property issues, shareholder agreements, corporate governance matters, and stock options, as well as on a number of commercial contracts, including licensing and distribution. We can also assist with the formation of joint ventures, facilitate strategic alliances, and raise finance through seed capital (including angel investment and crowd funding), bank debt, and private and public offerings of debt and equity securities. When our clients are ready to exit the business, we work with them and other shareholders to develop and execute exit strategies, identify strategic buyers, and assist in all aspects of the sale of the business.
The firm has an established history of introducing emerging companies to potential investors and vice versa and has represented a number of arrangers and sponsors that facilitate venture capital investments. Also, our lawyers are well versed in advising on corporate and securities law and drafting financing documentation with these considerations in mind.
We have advised on venture capital deals in the following industries:
